Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the retirement of H Charles “Chuck” Floyd, the current executive vice-president and global president of operations, on 31 December 2023.
Following his departure from an operational role, Floyd will transition to the position of senior advisor to Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt’s president and chief executive officer, from 1 January 2024 for six months. Floyd’s official retirement from Hyatt is scheduled for 30 June 2024.
Floyd’s career with Hyatt began in 1981 as a corporate management trainee, before his ascent through front office and rooms positions in locations including Minneapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles and Monterey.
He took on roles such as general manager at Hyatt Lisle in Illinois, followed by leadership positions in Minneapolis and San Francisco.
Floyd’s journey led him to Hyatt’s corporate office in Chicago in 1997, where he undertook sales and operations leadership roles.
In 2015, Chuck Floyd assumed the role of global president of operations, overseeing Hyatt’s global operations centre and operations across the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME), and Asia Pacific (ASPAC).

Transition and leadership structure
From 1 January 2024, regional group presidents Pete Sears (Americas), David Udell (ASPAC), Javier Águila (EAME) and chief growth officer Jim Chu will report directly to Mark Hoplamazian.
This strategic shift aims to ensure a seamless transition in leadership and maintain the high standards of operational excellence that Floyd has instilled during his tenure.
