Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of its new boutique hotel, The Pell, under its JdV by Hyatt brand.

Managed by Highgate, the hotel is located in Middletown on Rhode Island’s Aquidneck Island, just minutes away from Newport and its many attractions.

The property is the first JdV by Hyatt Hotel in Rhode Island.

Initially built in 1989, the property was renovated under a $9m project by architecture and design company A4 Architecture and Stoa Design Collective.

The property is inspired by local coastal surroundings and the Middletown neighbourhood, the press release reported.

The hotel’s 127 guestrooms and suites offer beds with premium linens, full bathrooms with marble vanities and modern amenities such as a mini-refrigerator, a 55-inch TV and high-speed Wi-Fi.

The hotel features a restaurant, The Helmway, which serves breakfast and dinner with an option for in-room dining.

Executive Chef Will Wallbank said: “The menu reflects my passion for local, sustainably sourced high-quality ingredients.

“We work with local farms and fishermen to deliver fresh options for guests and visitors of Aquidneck Island. The menu itself and cocktail list will change with the seasons.”

The Pell also provides 1,250 ft² of customisable meeting and event space, along with a business centre, fitness facility and complimentary parking.

The Pell GRJ LLC co-founder Graham Jones said: “We are thrilled to finally be introducing The Pell, which is the first JdV by Hyatt hotel in Rhode Island, to the Newport market.

“We have put a lot of time, effort and love into this project and know The Pell will have an enormous impact in both Newport and Middletown.”

In February this year, Hyatt Hotels closed the acquisition of the Dream Hotel Group lifestyle hotel brand and management platform.
