A Hyatt affiliate has signed a management agreement with Millat Group’s affiliate to bring the Park Hyatt luxury brand to Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Winston Hotel in Rosebank will undergo extensive refurbishment and reopen as Park Hyatt Johannesburg next year.
The refurbishment work will be supervised by Yabu Pushelberg. It is a global design firm that has previously worked on Park Hyatt properties in Shenzhen, New York and Bangkok.
Under the refurbishment plan, each room in the hotel will be fitted with king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms and professionally equipped workstations.
The 30-room property will also feature a swimming pool and a multi-purpose event space for accommodating up to 60 guests, suitable for organising meetings and conferences.
Hyatt International Middle East Africa development regional vice-president Ludwig Bouldoukian said: “We are delighted to continue building on our relationship with the Millat Group and add Park Hyatt Johannesburg to Hyatt’s growing collection of luxury properties throughout the African continent.”

The latest deal marks the re-introduction of luxury brand Park Hyatt in South Africa. It is the fourth collaboration between Hyatt and the Millat Group in South Africa.
The first three properties opened by the partnership include Hyatt House Johannesburg Rosebank, Hyatt Regency Cape Town and Hyatt House Johannesburg Sandton.
Hyatt’s Africa portfolio comprises of total 13 properties including Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay, Park Hyatt Zanzibar and 11 Hyatt Regency hotels in Algiers Airport, Johannesburg, Taghazout, Casablanca, Dar es Salaam, The Kilimanjaro, Addis Ababa and Cairo West.
