IHG Hotels & Resorts has rolled out targeted enhancements to its four upper-midscale brands in Greater China, namely Atwell Suites, EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express.

This initiative is designed to deliver high-return solutions and efficiency for hotel owners while catering to a diverse range of guest preferences and market needs.

IHG Greater China chief development officer Kent Sun said: “China’s hospitality industry is entering a new era of structural transformation and quality-driven growth.

“With the upper-midscale segment expected to double in size over the next decade, owners are demanding smarter investment models with lower barriers, proven operations, and steady returns. Through this strategic overhaul, we’re offering a practical, replicable, and efficient solution.”

The upgraded brands are tailored to different segments, with Atwell Suites offering home-like comfort inspired by local culture while EVEN Hotels focuses on wellness and balanced living. In addition, Holiday Inn provides social spaces while Holiday Inn Express is designed for guests to “Recharge and Restart.”

This strategy is supported by an optimised cost structure that ensures quality, value, and flexibility.

IHG Greater China has introduced a four-dimensional support system to improve investment performance, encompassing cost-efficient construction, smart operations, revenue growth, and procurement support.

Launched last year, the IHG Design & Innovation Lab addresses the challenges of hotel development such as design ambiguity and cost overruns.

It provides a one-stop showroom with standardised design packages that help reduce costs and accelerate project timelines.

Smart digital integration ensures cost-effective operations and enhances the guest experience with features such as IHG Connect, AI operator, delivery robots, IHG Studio in-room TV entertainment, and mobile room management.

IHG’s loyalty programme, IHG One Rewards, and localised digital tools aim to drive revenue growth by attracting loyal, high-spending guests and improving acquisition and conversion.

The company’s integration with Chinese travel platforms is designed to maximise both international and domestic demand.

The centralised digital procurement platform of IHG enables hotel owners to control costs and make informed purchasing decisions.

Tailored financial solutions are also offered to ease initial investment pressures and optimise cash flow.

Comprehensive brand refreshes for EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express are underway, with updates to design, experiences, and service standards.

Atwell Suites is set to open its first properties in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, targeting lifestyle-savvy travellers seeking a “home away from home”.

In January 2024, IHG unveiled the launch of its 700th hotel in Greater China, highlighting its longstanding presence and commitment to the region.
