IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has signed nine new hotels across Portugal, resulting in the addition of 976 rooms to its pipeline.
The new signings encompass two of IHG’s brand collections, namely the luxury and lifestyle collection and Essentials Collection.
The Essentials Collection will see six new properties under the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lisbon – Amoreiras and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portimão are among the four Holiday Inn Express properties that have been signed.
Owned by Real Hotels Group, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lisbon – Amoreiras is a 192-room hotel set to open early next year, marking the first Holiday Inn Express & Suites property in Portugal.
In addition, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portimão, a 60-room hotel owned by Harland & Poston Group, is expected to open in the first half of 2025.

The Holiday Inn brand will also expand with two new properties, Holiday Inn Braga and Holiday Inn Beja.
The 114-room Holiday Inn Braga, owned by Soliteight Hotel Projects, will be the first IHG property in their portfolio. It is expected to launch in the second half of 2024.
The 95-room Holiday Inn Beja, also owned by Mercan Properties, is scheduled to open in the same period.
The luxury and lifestyle collection comprises the signings of Kimpton Lisbon, Hotel Indigo Albufeira, and Hotel Indigo Faro.
Set to open in early 2026, the 141-room Kimpton Lisbon will be the first Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants-branded property in Lisbon and the eighth property in partnership with Real Hotels Group.
The 80-room Hotel Indigo Albufeira and the 127-room Hotel Indigo Faro, both signed with Mercan Properties, are expected to open in mid-2025 and late 2026, respectively.

Currently, IHG operates 20 open hotels in Portugal across seven brands and has a pipeline of 15 hotels.
Last month, IHG, in alliance with SM Group, announced plans to launch the first voco hotel in Fujian province, Greater China.
