IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its Vignette Collection brand into the Japanese market, marking this entry with the rebranding of RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka.
Situated in Nakanoshima, this establishment now operates under IHG’s Vignette Collection portfolio after undergoing significant refurbishments.
Since 1935, the hotel has been a venue for international and cultural exchanges, hosting foreign dignitaries, imperial families, and VIPs.
Following renovations, the hotel provides over 1,000 remodelled rooms, 18 restaurants and bars, a fitness centre, and event facilities with 56 banquet rooms.
Japanese fashion designer Junko Koshino has been commissioned to design the new staff uniforms, further enhancing the hotel’s local connection.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan and Micronesia managing director and IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan CEO Abhijay Sandilya said: “We are thrilled to officially introduce Vignette Collection as our tenth brand in Japan, marking a significant milestone in our rapidly expanding portfolio.
“The hotel exemplifies the true spirit of a collection brand— offering its own unique identity while sharing a common vision of providing travellers with an authentic, one-of-a-kind experience, all enhanced by the advantages of IHG One Rewards.”
Vignette Collection, which was introduced to IHG’s portfolio just three years ago, has already reached the halfway point in its ten-year goal of 100 open and pipeline hotels.
IHG’s strategic expansions and brand introductions over the past five years have grown its portfolio from one to six brands. This now encompasses more than 500 properties across over 70 countries.
In a recent development, IHG announced the first agreements for Ruby Hotels locations in Berlin and Copenhagen.
The company completed the acquisition of the Ruby brand earlier this year, along with its associated intellectual property rights, for an initial transaction value set at €110.5m ($116m).
