Hospitality firm Marriott International has entered into agreement with East Japan Railway Company to open its first JW Marriott branded hotel in Tokyo, Japan.
The new hotel will mark the brand’s debut in the capital city of Japan when its opens in spring 2025.
JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo will be located between Shinagawa and Tamachi Stations and is part of JR East’s Takanawa Gateway Urban Development project.
The project includes Takanawa Gateway station and a mixed-use development featuring residences, commercial facilities, a convention, and a conference centre.
The hotel will occupy the 22nd to the 30th floors of the Station Complex Building (South).
JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo will feature 200 guestrooms and suites designed by Yabu Pushelberg.

By GlobalDataThe property will boast an all-day restaurant with a semi-open kitchen, a specialty restaurant, and a lobby lounge featuring a Croissant Bar.
The hotel also has plans for an executive lounge, a 25m indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, and the brand’s signature Spa by JW.
JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo will also feature 740m2 event space, and 250m2 of pre-function event space for small to medium scale events.
Marriott Japan and Guam area vice-president Karl Hudson said: “We are thrilled to work with East Japan Railway Company to expand one of our flagship brands in Japan with the signing the new JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo.
“The new luxury hotel will mark the second JW Marriott hotel to open in Japan and will welcome guests to an oasis of peace and serenity in the bustling heart of Tokyo.”
Currently, Marriott’s portfolio in Japan includes more than 70 hotels across 18 brands in cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.
Last month, a new JW Marriott hotel opened in the Guadalajara Country Club area in Mexico.
