MGM Resorts International has provided updates on its Feeding Forward programme, marking 1.2 million meal donations to communities across the US in 2023 alone.
The donations come from hunger relief organisations and the rescue of unused food from multiple points along MGM Resorts’ food and beverage operations.

This includes prepared food from buffets and events, addressing the major environmental concern of food waste in hotel food operations. A key issue is the standardisation of portions and servings, which doesn’t account for fluctuating guest levels.
At MGM properties, trays of food are cooled, packaged and frozen in on-property blast chillers, ensuring safe storage temperatures before the meals are redistributed into communities via food banks.
MGM Resorts has demonstrated its commitment to food security in all of the regions in which it operates with recent grants to hunger relief organisations. These total almost $375,000, including $195,000 to organisations in Southern Nevada, where the company headquarters are located.
MGM Resorts chief people, inclusion and sustainability officer Jyoti Chopra commented: “We are extremely proud of the environmental and social impacts of this programme which allows us to recover food of all types at a significant scale and help our neighbours struggling with food insecurity.”
