Thailand-based hotel owner, operator and investor Minor Hotels has signed a development agreement for Anantara Zanzibar Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
Slated to open in 2027, the resort will be located on the northern coast of Zanzibar Island, featuring 181 rooms and a range of amenities.
Dubai-based Infinity Group, the owning company, has entrusted Minor Hotels and the Anantara brand with the management of this new property.
The Anantara Zanzibar Resort is part of Infinity Group’s Africa portfolio, which includes various projects across the continent.
The resort will comprise 37 suites, a presidential villa, and 73 one and two-bedroom villas, each with a private pool.
Additionally, the property will offer 38 one-bedroom apartments, 19 two-bedroom apartments, eight three-bedroom penthouse apartments, and five penthouses.

Anantara Zanzibar Resort is designed to cater to both leisure and extended-stay guests, with a focus on water features, including private pools and lagoon access.
Minor Hotels CEO Dillip Rajakarier, said: “We are delighted to add Anantara Zanzibar Resort to our pipeline of luxury properties under development in Africa, along with the recently announced Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp in Zambia.

The beachside retreat will also provide six dining venues, including a speciality beach grill and a beach club bar, as well as a gourmet delicatessen café, a themed tikki bar, and a pool bar.
Its premium amenities will include an Anantara Spa, kids’ and teens’ clubs, fitness facilities, a water sports club, a lagoon pool, and a library.
For business travellers, the resort will offer meeting and event spaces, an executive lounge, and a business centre.

This development follows the January launch of the 174-room Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort in the UAE.
