Hotel owner, operator, and investor Minor Hotels has signed a strategic partnership with The Cavaleros Group to manage a hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.
From 1 July 2024, Minor Hotels will manage the 329-key property in Sandton, initially named NH Sandton.
It will undergo an extensive refurbishment before being rebranded as NH Collection Sandton.
This move marks the NH Collection brand’s debut on the African continent.
Minor Hotels and The Cavaleros Group intend to strengthen their relationship, with plans to collaborate on future hospitality projects across Africa.
The Cavaleros Group CEO Penny Cavaleros said: “The decision to partner with Minor Hotels for our Sandton Hotel and Africa was legendary for The Cavaleros Group.

The hotel will offer various guest room categories, including lead-in rooms, suites, one-bedroom suites, and the 145m² Royal Suite.
Guests will have access to two restaurants, two bars, an executive lounge, and conference facilities.
Additionally, the property will have a gym and a large outdoor swimming pool.
The NH Sandton, with a 30-year history, is situated approximately 20km from OR Tambo International Airport.
The Cavaleros Group, a privately owned property group in South Africa, has been active since 1926, with its property division established in 1967.
Minor Hotels, whose parent company is Minor International, currently operates 27 hotels and resorts in eight African countries under various brands, with more properties in the pipeline.

The NH Collection brand has a global presence with more than 90 properties.
Last month, Minor Hotels signed a development agreement for Anantara Zanzibar Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
