Newcastle-based hotel operator Cairn Group has reportedly acquired the 114-bedroom Ramada hotel at Glasgow Airport in a multi-million pound deal.
Cairn Group is also planning to invest £8m to renovate the property over the next year.
Cairn Group sales director Tina O’Hara was quoted by media sources saying: "The Ramada at Glasgow Airport realises its presence in a strategic location and complements our other five properties in Scotland.
"We have been looking to acquire in Glasgow for some time, and this opportunity fits perfectly into our ambitious expansion plans."
Established in 1980, the Cairn Group currently operates up to 21 hotels and six care homes, situated from Aberdeen to London.
The group operates 12 individually branded bars and restaurants in Edinburgh, London and Newcastle. The latest development is aimed to support the company’s five existing properties in Scotland.

By GlobalDataO’Hara said: "The hotel will have synergy with our Newcastle International Airport hotel DoubleTree by Hilton."
Cairn Group said existing jobs in the hotel remain safe, although the company is planning a full re-design and re-work at the property.
Cairn Group HR director Richard Adams said: "It’s fantastic to welcome the team at Ramada Glasgow to our business and we’re looking forward to involving them in people activities across the group.
"This acquisition has increased the number of employees to 2,100 across our portfolio and the development of the hotel should increase headcount at the property by some 20%, in line with our previous projects."
Adams added the company will collaborate with local suppliers across all aspects of the business, safeguarding and creating jobs in Glasgow.
Ramada Glasgow Airport Hotel is located seven miles from the city centre of Glasgow.
According to Ramada, the hotel is suitable for both business and leisure as its rooms feature all the necessary amenities.
