The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria has started work on a $175m project to expand the Graton Resort & Casino, located in Sonoma county, California, US.
The expansion includes a 200-room resort featuring a lobby and bar, a luxurious spa, as well as 20,000ft² of flexible event and convention space that includes seven separate rooms, as well as pre-function areas and smaller breakout meeting rooms.
The hotel will feature a typical room of more than 500ft² to suites of up to 2,600ft².
Covering an area of 342,000ft², the six storey hotel will connect to the south side of the existing facility near Daily Grill and MY Noodles restaurants, and will include a pool area that will serve as an extension of the hotel lobby, while providing an outdoor connection to the convention and meeting space.
Designed by Friedmutter Group, expansion work is scheduled to begin immediately with the aim to open the resort in the second half of 2016. Penta Building Group will serve as the general contractor.
The project, which will use nearly 100 California-based companies, is expected to generate more than 1,000 construction jobs across various stages of development.
