A Hyatt Hotels affiliate has signed a joint venture agreement with an affiliate of Desarrolladora Mexicana de Inmuebles (DMI) for the construction and management of a new Hyatt Regency branded hotel in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Hyatt Regency Andares Guadalajara, which will mark the opening of the fifth Hyatt Regency-branded hotel in Mexico, will represent the return of the brand to the city after a hiatus of over 17 years.
Located in the upscale area of Zapopan in the north-western section of Guadalajara, the new 220-room hotel will be part of the second phase of the Andares Shopping Mall, which is a mixed-use complex.
While the complex comprises a high-end retail component, two office towers and luxury condominiums, the hotel will be an integral part of the overall development, the second phase of which will also add additional upscale residential units and retail space.
DMI president Alvaro Leaño said, "The strength and quality of the Hyatt Regency brand in Mexico is growing rapidly and we believe that Hyatt Regency Andares Guadalajara will attract business and leisure travellers from across the country and abroad."
Expected to open in late 2016, Hyatt Regency Andares Guadalajara will include two restaurants, a lounge, around 29,000ft² of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, spa facilities, a fitness centre as well as an indoor swimming pool.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts Latin America and Caribbean senior vice president Myles McGourty said the company is delighted to be working with DMI and to build further on Hyatt’s brand equity and portfolio of hotels in the country.
"Guadalajara is a key centre of travel and commerce, and an important gateway for Hyatt as we continue to gain representation for our brands in Mexico," McGourty added.
Following completion, the new property will join four existing Hyatt Regency-branded hotels in Mexico – the Hyatt Regency Mexico City, Hyatt Regency Merida, Hyatt Regency Villahermosa and Hyatt Regency Cancun.
