Access control solutions provider Kaba has installed a mobile access system to replace room keys at the 188-room Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas, US.

Operating in all hotel rooms, the Cloud-based keys from Kaba allow guests to open their room doors with their own mobile device as an alternative to a standard radio-frequency identification (RFID) card.

According to Kaba, its mobile access solution, which works together with bluetooth low-energy and near-field communications, supports Apple iOS smartphones and enables hotel operators to use it and securely issue and manage access authorisations.

The mobile access authorisations of Kaba are said to be encrypted in the Kaba system using the Legic IDConnect cloud solution, transferred to the hotel guest, and are only decrypted within the lock of the hotel room door, providing convenient access.

The Cromwell hotel features a 40,000ft² casino, hotel lobby bar, lounge, restaurant by Giada De Laurentiis and beach and nightlife venues by Victor Drai.
