Spain-based hotelier Melia Hotels International has announced plans to open its first ME by Melia brand property in the US next year, which is part of the brand’s evolving global expansion strategy.
The 129-room ME Miami will replace the Casa Moderna Miami Hotel at 1100 Biscayne Boulevard and is scheduled to open next spring.
The property will feature two rooftop swimming pools, a spa and more than 5,000ft² of renovated space that will be converted into new dining, bar and event areas.
One of the hotel’s restaurants will include the brand’s first STK Rebel, a casual version of the traditional steakhouse, which will include indoor and outdoor dining options.
Melia Hotels CEO and vice chairman Gabriel Escarrer said: "We are incredibly excited about the launch of ME Miami and are thrilled to begin this project in one of the most iconic cities in the United States."
ME Miami will be owned by private equity, alternative investment manager CGI Merchant Group.
