Marriott International‘s wholly owned brand, Renaissance Hotels, has expanded its South American portfolio with the opening of the Renaissance Santiago Hotel in Chile.
The new hotel, which is the third Renaissance property in the region, is situated in the upscale neighborhood of Vitacura and is surrounded by boutiques and various restaurants.
Renaissance Santiago Hotel has 181 guest rooms and suites, each featuring luxury bedding and high tech amenities.
Renaissance Hotels vice president Toni Stoeckl said, "We want to make it easier than ever before for guests to discover the very best of Santiago, whether they’re looking for emerging local music, the arts or indigenous culinary or mixology adventures."
The new hotel is said to be pursuing official LEED certification from the United States Green Building Council as part of its commitment to local sustainability.
Dining options at the property include the brand’s signature Catae restaurant led by local Chef Mariano Cid de la Paz, and the D-bar & Lounge, which serves a variety of small plates, speciality cocktails, local beers and a selection of Chilean wines.

By GlobalDataKaitek Café Bar offers a menu of 29 coffees and an exclusive tea range, while the El Cofa Bar located on the sixteenth floor terrace offers snacks along with views of the city.
Additionally, the hotel has around 12,000ft² of conference space as well as an Elential Fitness Center & Spa, an outdoor pool and whirlpool.
The new Renaissance property is owned by Altamira Grupo Inmobiliario and will be operated by Administraciones y Operaciones Hoteleras Hotech.
Altamira Grupo Inmobiliario president Mariano Julio Salvador said the company is thrilled to introduce Renaissance Hotels to Santiago.
"With its prime location in the prestigious Vitacura district, we know that it will be a very successful hotel," Salvador added.
Renaissance Hotels is planning to reach a global portfolio of 170 hotels across 40 countries by the end of 2014.
