Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide plans to expand its Aloft Hotels brand portfolio in Australia with the opening of a new hotel, Aloft Perth Rivervale, in 2016.
The new hotel will be owned by BAAC, which is an affiliate of BGC Australia, and will be situated in the suburb of Rivervale.
Aloft Perth Rivervale is part of a redevelopment project to convert riverfront land into a commercial and residential precinct.
The new property will feature 224 loft-like rooms, the brand’s signature W XYZ bar, Re:fuel one-stop grab and go food and beverage area, and a full-service restaurant.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific president Stephen Ho said, "We are delighted to introduce our stylish Aloft brand to Australia in partnership with BGC, which has established a strong reputation of quality and innovation in this market."
Other amenities at the hotel will include a fitness centre, a swimming pool with outdoor terrace area, 5,920ft² of meeting space, rooftop function space, and guest parking.

By GlobalDataBGC Australia director Julian Ambrose said, "Together with Starwood’s proven track record and strong guest loyalty, we believe this will be another successful venture that will further develop our commercial relationship."
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific acquisitions and development senior vice president Matthew Fry said that Perth is undergoing a rapid transformation with the opening of restaurants, bars and retail outlets and a $750m investment in its airport, all of which are creating a growing need for new accommodations.
"Perth is a dynamic market, and this is the right time and destination for us to introduce the Aloft brand to Australia," Fry added.
The property represents Starwood’s third property in Perth following the opening of Four Points by Sheraton Perth in June 2012 and the signing of a management agreement for The Westin Perth, also owned by BGC.
Aloft Perth Rivervale will join Starwood’s ten hotels currently operating in Australia, while the group has scheduled the opening of the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel in late March 2014 and The Westin Perth in 2017.
Additionally, the group is set to open four new hotels in the Pacific region – Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, Fiji; Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Resort & Spa; Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort; and Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows.
By the end of 2014, Starwood is planning to have 20 operating hotels and resorts in the Pacific region.
