Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened a new 200-room Westin hotel in the Jekyll Island, Georgia, US.
The Westin Jekyll Island is the cornerstone of Jekyll Island’s Beach Village project that features an ocean front promenade, village green, restaurants, upscale boutiques, Great Dunes Park and the 128,000ft² Jekyll Island Convention Centre.
The five-storey property is owned by Jekyll Oceanfront Hotel (JOFH), a joint venture formed by real estate development Leon N Weiner & Associates and independent third-party hotel manager New Castle Hotels and Resorts.
Leon N Weiner and Associates president Dave Curtis said: "Coupled with the convention center, The Westin Jekyll Island makes this cherished barrier island a best-in-class destination and a first-choice option for meeting planners who prefer to keep their meetings in state, or within the region."
It includes an upscale and casual restaurant The Reserve that offers different dining options and Salty’s poolside bar and café for cocktails and lighter food, as well as 5,260ft² of modern meeting and banquet facilities, outdoor venues and resort-style outdoor pool.
Designed by LLW Architects of Memphis, the U-shaped, beachfront hotel also meets the standards of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification to minimise the hotel’s impact on the barrier island’s sensitive surroundings.
