Radisson Hotel Group is continuing its expansion in Africa by signing seven new hotels in the first half of 2023.

The new agreement will add more than 1,400 rooms to the group’s African portfolio.

The latest signing will mark the launch of the Radisson brand into Kenya, the opening of the first Radisson RED hotel in Nigeria, the first Radisson Collection hotel in Egypt and the group’s foray into Gambia’s hospitality space.

Radisson Hotel Group global chief development officer Elie Younes said: “Thanks to the relevance of our brands and the trust of our owners, we have been able to maintain our growth momentum across Africa, bringing our tally of new signings for 2023 so far to seven hotels and over 1,400 rooms.

“With the continent remaining a focus market for us, we are committed to further contributing to the African hospitality industry, providing more possibilities to our guests and employment opportunities to the local communities.”

The new hotel signings include Radisson Blu Beach Resort and Spa, Banjul; Radisson Blu Hotel Abuja CBD; Radisson Collection Hotel and Conference Center, Abuja; Radisson Collection Resort, Marsa Alam Port Phoenice; Radisson Hotel Algiers El Mouradia; Radisson Hotel Nairobi Airport and Radisson RED Lagos VI.

As part of the expansion plan in Africa, the group also plans to open its first property in Reunion Island and Ghana.

Furthermore, it intends to boost its resort footprint in Casablanca and Saidia in Morocco and South Africa, Egypt and Tunisia.

Radisson Hotel Group Africa and Turkey development vice-president Ramsay Rankoussi said: “An even better indication of our growth is the materialisation of our pipeline into openings, where we have led consistently the biggest market share for the last 36 months, translating to a commendable 15% growth on our African portfolio, year-on-year, placing us well on track to reach our objective of 150 hotels within the next five years from 100 hotels today.”
