On 8 November 2023, Regent Hotels & Resorts celebrated the official grand opening of Regent Hong Kong, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury portfolio.

Held in the hotel’s Regent Ballroom, the re-opening brought together local luminaries and community leaders to celebrate the hotel’s rebirth.

The hotel offers 497 guestrooms, including 129 suites, and its location on Victoria Harbour places it at the cultural epicentre of Hong Kong, surrounded by landmarks such as the K11 MUSEA shopping centre and the Avenue of Stars.

Design, dining and distinction

Regent said that Hong Kong-born designer Chi Wing Lo has brought a “modern and understated touch to what is his first hotel project.”

Regent Hong Kong offers six culinary experiences. From the two Michelin-starred Lai Ching Heen to the Lobby Lounge, guests can explore a variety of food and drink with harbour views.

The hotel company said its personalised approach to service, led by Regent experience agents, ensures a seamless experience.

IHG’s Regent renaissance

The Regent Hong Kong was originally opened in 1980 but closed in 2018 for renovations.

It is a flagship property within the new Regent portfolio, joining Carlton Cannes, Regent Chongqing, Regent Shanghai Pudong, Regent Phu Quoc and the soon-to-opened Regent Santa Monica Beach.

IHG Hotels & Resorts acquired Regent in 2018 and has focused on re-imagining the brand. The opening in Hong Kong will be followed by new properties in Shanghai and in Bali, Indonesia, in 2024.

Managing director Daniel Aylmer of IHG Hotels & Resorts Greater China, said in a statement: “The return of the iconic Regent Hong Kong heralds the growth of our ultra-luxury properties in the Greater China region.”
