India-based Saj Hotel is bolstering its presence in the boutique resort space with Saj in the Forest, expected to open in mid-May this year according to ETHospitalityWorld.com.

Located on 32 acres of land in Pench National Park in Madhya Pradesh, the boutique resort aims to attract safari enthusiasts, adventure seekers, naturalists and global travellers.

This property aims to leave the least carbon footprint while also ensuring that the impact remains positive on local habitats and the natural environment.

Saj Hotels was established in the early 1990s by brothers Rahul and Kartik.

The brothers bought the Saj Resort in Mahabaleshwar in 1996. Saj Hotels also owns Saj by the Lake in Malshej Ghat.

Speaking to the publication, Saj Hotels director Karna Timbadia said: “Over the past decade or so, Saj Hotels has expanded its presence in the boutique resort space with the launch of Saj by the Lake (Malshej Ghat) and Saj in the Forest (Pench National Park).

“We also moved into an extension of the hospitality industry and the dynamic field of stand-alone restaurants with our acclaimed flagship brand – Mahé and the recent additions Roboto and Clumsy in Goa.”

Positioned as a casual, family-oriented hospitality brand, Saj Hotels aims to provide the comforts of a luxury brand while being cost-effective.

Adding further, Timbadia said: “We have been nature-positive and environmentally friendly since our founding. Sustainable architecture has reflected this concept. Our resorts use natural, eco-friendly materials.

Solar heat water. Modern technology turns kitchen garbage into garden fertilisers. We recycle our sewage for crops. Saj in the Forest will operate with a “zero plastic” policy and we are about to discontinue using “one-time use” plastic products at all our locations. Through smart sustainability collaborations, we now serve water in glass, steel or recyclable aluminium cans instead of pet bottles for our guests’ convenience.”

Meanwhile, the company is also planning to launch Clumsy, its new bar and restaurant in Goa during the same time.

The hotel company is aiming to expand its hotel and restaurant divisions across the country.

“We are constantly on the lookout for new and exciting locations for it,” Timbadia added.
