Business property adviser Christie & Co has successfully facilitated the sale of The Chase Hotel, a historic guesthouse originally built in 1840 in Whitehaven, UK.
Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed. The sale was managed by Christie & Co business agent Graham Wilkinson.
The Georgian property was bought by local businessman Nejat Alkan.
Alkan said: “We are privileged to have been able to acquire The Chase Hotel, which is a big part of community life in Whitehaven. We are looking forward to continuing to welcome visitors and locals alike.
“It is certainly business as usual for the hotel and whilst, in the future, we will undertake some upgrades and refurbishments, we are very much looking forward to working with our great team of staff to make sure every single guest enjoys their visit.”
The building is known for its 23 ensuite bedrooms, conference facilities, and a bar with a terrace and dining room. The property stands within two acres of landscaped gardens.

Graham Wilkinson said: “We are delighted to have concluded the sale of The Chase Hotel. We worked with the previous owner, Brian Proctor, to acquire the hotel 40 years ago and we have now come full circle and helped to enable Mr Proctor to retire and welcome Nejat Alkan as the new owner of this popular hotel in the heart of Whitehaven. We wish Mr Alkan every success for the future.”
Earlier this month, the company also oversaw the sale of Haselbury Mill, a hotel and venue in Somerset, UK.
This property features three Grade II listed buildings, including the Tithe Barn, and is set amid 13 acres of picturesque grounds with a lake and a flowing river.
