IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle collection brand Six Senses has signed a hotel management agreement with the joint venture between Sidercom and El Enebro to transform a 16th-century palace into a luxury country estate.
Located in Ávila, Spain, The Six Senses Quexigal Palace is expected to open at the end of 2026.
The property will feature 60 guest rooms, including suites and a presidential suite with private gardens, within a 100ha estate.
The El Quexigal palace was designed by Juan de Herrera, the architect behind El Escorial. It was once owned by King Felipe II and served as a recreational haven for the Royal House.
Madrid-based Arvo Arquitectura and interior designer Raphaël Navot are tasked with preserving the estate’s historical essence while incorporating modern luxury.
Original elements such as wine and olive oil vessels are being repurposed as unique design features.

By GlobalDataSix Senses CEO Neil Jacobs said, “To experience Six Senses Quexigal Palace is to embark on a country resort experience that starts within the hallowed halls of this incredible 16th-century palace and leads you out to the beautiful grounds, which are themselves a playground for outdoor pursuits and exploration in nature.
“We are delighted to partner with El Enebro and Sidercom to help write the next chapter in the story of this singular heritage restoration, one that will come to life in the care we take in even the smallest details.”
The resort aims to create an ambience reminiscent of a royal village, suitable for family vacations and various retreats.
Dining options will focus on local, sustainable ingredients with farm-to-fork offerings. In addition to the signature restaurant, guests can enjoy themed bars and secret drinking spots throughout the estate.
El Enebro and Sidercom joint venture representatives of the board of directors Marta Guirao and Borja Urtasun said: “El Quexigal Palace is a treasure of Spanish heritage, and its restoration is a responsibility we undertake with great care and respect.
“This project is not only about preserving the grandeur of its past but also about crafting a sustainable future that ensures this cultural treasure can be appreciated by generations to come. Together with Six Senses and our partners, we aim to honour its history while reimagining its legacy for the modern traveller.”
The Six Senses Spa will offer treatments and therapies aimed at rejuvenating both body and mind.
Facilities include treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, a halotherapy cave, and biohacking devices for natural healing.
For younger guests, the Grow With Six Senses clubhouse promises entertainment while adults can marvel at the stars from the observation deck near the European Space Agency’s Cebreros Station.
