Swedavia has announced that Strawberry and Nordic hotel chain Quality Hotel will manage its new hotel at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Claimed to become the “largest” in the Nordics with 656 rooms, the hotel will be situated adjacent to the SkyCity terminal.
Construction of the hotel is expected to commence in 2027, with an opening planned for the first quarter of 2029.
The hotel will feature a congress hall that can hold 1,400 people, catering to various events and meetings.
Additionally, a conference centre will accommodate around 400 guests. The venue will also feature a restaurant with multiple concepts and social areas, as well as a green space in the hotel’s courtyard.
The full-service hotel will be strategically located next to Terminal 5 and a five-minute walk away from SkyCity.
The market has shown considerable interest in hotel development at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, with several parties vying for the opportunity. Following a thorough evaluation process, Swedavia Real Estate selected the partnership.
Strawberry already operates two other hotels at Arlanda, the Clarion Hotel and Comfort Hotel, both situated within the SkyCity terminal area. Quality Hotel boasts more than 60 hotels specialising in meetings and family accommodations.
Swedavia Real Estate chief executive officer Jesper Sandahl said: “The need and demand for hotels at Arlanda Airport is great. We are very happy, that we will be able to offer a full-service hotel of this size in the future, as part of the airport’s continued development.
“We are very pleased that the new hotel will be managed by Strawberry. The hotel will be a strong addition to already existent hotels at the airport and an important meeting place at the largest airport in Sweden.”
Since 2020, Swedavia Group’s airport operations have achieved fossil-free status. Last year, the company reported sales of around Skr5.9bn and employs approximately 2,600 staff.
