Shama Suasana Johor Bahru has officially been rebranded from Suasana Suites Johor Bahru, marking the introduction of the Shama brand to Malaysia.

This development represents the second collaboration between ONYX Hospitality Group and UMLand.

This follows the launch of the Amari Johor Bahru in 2017.

With this relaunch, Malaysia is said to become the first country outside of Thailand to host all three of ONYX Hospitality Group’s brands, namely Amari, OZO, and Shama.

The relaunched property has 87 all-suite accommodations, each with modern amenities, living areas, and kitchenettes.

The announcement comes on the heels of ONYX Hospitality Group’s expansion news across Thailand, in April.

Shama Rayong was signed at Amari Bangkok, with plans for the property to open in the first quarter of 2026.

Currently, ONYX includes a range of brands such as Oriental Residence, Saffron Collection, The Mosaic Collection and more.
