German hospitality company TUI Group has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of The Mora, its new luxury brand, in Zanzibar.

Located on Muyuni Beach, The Mora Zanzibar has 250 suites and four restaurants.

The brand is named after the Latin term for “pause” and reflects the aim to provide a relaxing and modern luxury experience.

The property’s official opening was attended by TUI CEO Sebastian Ebel and Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi.

TUI’s portfolio in Zanzibar includes two Riu hotels and the TUI Blue Bahari Zanzibar.

The addition of The Mora further strengthens the company’s presence on the island, which is known for its year-round appeal as a holiday destination. It also serves as a stopover for passengers of the MS Europa cruise ship.

Ebel said: “Our new hotel brand The Mora embraces a current trend: Experiences are becoming more important than possessions. This development is proven by the strong performance of our successful hotel and cruise business with internationally recognised brands.

“We are now expanding our portfolio in the growing luxury segment, thereby reinforcing our strategy to attract new and existing customers to our holiday destinations worldwide.”

In the medium term, the company aims to expand its global portfolio to 600.
