Global hospitality company Hilton’s luxury hotel brand Waldorf Astoria has marked its debut in Japan with a new property in Osaka.
Situated in the Umekita District and a short walk from JR Osaka Station, the hotel is poised to contribute to the revitalisation of the city, complementing the wider development of the Kansai region.
The launch follows the opening of Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda in September last year, with both hotels located within Umekita Park.
ORIX Hotel Management president Takaaki Nitanaisaid: “The opening of Waldorf Astoria Osaka is an integral part of the Umekita 2nd Project, contributing to the development and revitalisation of Osaka, and elevating the wider Kansai region.
“Together with Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda – which opened at Grand Green Osaka last September – both hotels allow domestic and international travellers to fully immerse in the vibrancy of this dynamic city.”
The design of Waldorf Astoria Osaka, crafted by architect André Fu, presents a fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics.
The hotel offers 252 rooms and suites, including two 146m² penthouse suites and a 193m² Presidential Suite.
The hotel also provides diverse dining options and 33,000m² of event space.
Beyond gastronomy, Waldorf Astoria Osaka features an indoor pool and is integrated into the Hilton Honors loyalty programme, which encompasses Hilton’s 24 brands.
Hilton Asia Pacific president Alan Watts said: “As Hilton celebrates more than 60 years of legacy in this remarkable country, we are proud to debut our iconic Waldorf Astoria brand in Osaka and elevate the benchmark of luxury in this cosmopolitan city.
“This is a historic year for the brand worldwide, as we mark the growth of luxury travel here in Asia Pacific and set the course to more than double our Waldorf Astoria portfolio in this region over the next two years.”
This opening follows Hilton’s recent expansion into Texas, US, with the Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country and Waldorf Astoria Residences Texas Hill Country, under a branding and management agreement with Wine Country Hospitality Partners.
