Hotel group Accor has signed a contract for its first hotel in Sorriso, Brazil, under its ibis Styles brand, which is set to open in 2027.

Located in Mato Grosso, this latest addition will join Accor’s three existing hotels in the state, which consist of ibis Sinop, ibis Cuiabá and ibis Styles Rondonópolis.

This addition comes just after the hotel group announced the opening of two hotels in the city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, last week.

Accor chief development officer of premium, midscale and economy division for Americas Abel Castro said: “We are excited to make a new addition to Accor's portfolio in the state.

“We believe in the potential of Sorriso which, despite its short history of only 37 years, is already recognised as the national capital of agribusiness and one of the largest soy producers in the world. We very much hope that this novelty will bear fruit for other Accor projects in the region.”

This property strengthens the hotel group’s partnership with Falcon, which will manage ibis Styles Sorriso alongside other properties in the chain, including ibis Cuiabá.

Additionally, the hotel solidifies Accor's collaboration with Pedra do Reino Investimentos and Dotz Empreendimentos, real estate developers specialising in the hotel sector.

The two developers have previously signed ten agreements with the hotel group.

Pedra do Reino Investimentos owner, partner and director Felipe Haeckel said: “We are very happy with this new hotel in Sorriso, the country's agricultural capital.”

ibis Styles Sorriso will boast 120 apartments, a gym, a restaurant and meeting rooms, along with WOJO coworking spaces.

Situated on the main avenue of the city, the hotel will feature an architectural design by Marabuco.

Guests at the property will also have access to nearby locations, such as the city's shopping centre, along with a range of entertainment options.

Currently, Accor has 560 ibis Styles hotels across more than 45 countries.
