Aimbridge EMEA, a division of Aimbridge Hospitality, has been selected by Santa Maria Group to manage the Grand Luxor Hotel & Village resort in Costa Blanca, Spain.

Aimbridge EMEA has been managing the 402-key resort as of October 1, 2023.

Aimbridge EMEA divisional president David Anderson said: “We are incredibly excited to partner with Santa Maria Group and announce our entry into the Spanish market.

“The Grand Luxor Hotel & Village, located on the Costa Blanca, one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations, is an impressive and sought-out resort and we look forward to helping the owners meet their growth goals.”

The resort boasts 102 villas and 300 guest rooms, including two presidential suites.

It also features five food and beverage outlets, communal spaces, three outdoor pools, a spa, a kids' club, a gym, mini golf and meeting and event areas spanning a total space of over 1,500ft².

The four-star-rated property is situated adjacent to the Terra Mitica theme park and is a 40-minute drive from Alicante Airport.

The property is expected to benefit from the Terra Mitica Convention Centre and other event spaces, with a total area of 12,000m².

Terra Mitica is under the ownership of Santa Maria Group and the theme park serves as a family tourism destination.

Besides its foray into Spain, Aimbridge has announced several new additions to its EMEA business in recent months, including the Holiday Inn Eindhoven Airport, the Adagio Aparthotel Antwerp City Centre and the Alliance Palace in Batumi, Georgia.

In August, Aimbridge appointed Niall Kelly as head of development for the EMEA region.

Kelly has more than 25 years of deal-making experience in international markets.

Currently, Aimbridge Hospitality’s global portfolio features about 1,500 hotels across 20 countries.  This portfolio includes managed and pipeline properties.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, uptake of the metaverse by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed return on investment.
