Aloft Hotels, a part of Marriott Bonvoy, has debuted in Singapore with the opening of Aloft Singapore Novena.

Aloft Singapore Novena spans two towers, featuring 781 guestrooms and four suites, each ranging from 18 to 46m².

Each guestroom offers a luxury mattress, a 55-inch flat-screen television with complimentary Wi-Fi access, local calls, in-room USB charging ports and wireless charging options.

Aloft Hotels vice-president and global brand leader Matthew Boettcher said: “Singapore goes beyond its title as a global financial hub, as it also offers travellers a melting pot of cultures, cuisines and ideas, making it a perfect destination for a dynamic brand like Aloft.

"We look forward to welcoming our business and leisure travellers alike to experience Aloft's unique spaces that are infused with a sense of connection and personality.”

Designed by KSS International, the hotel offers a "different by design" concept.

The hotel’s entrance introduces a 2.5m crescendo sculpture inspired by musical notes.

Aloft Singapore Novena general manager Tony Cousens said: “Primed to deliver experiences that are fuelled by an eclectic fusion of music and design, we are poised to offer unparalleled experiences in the midst of the ever-changing travel landscape.

“With the hotel's strategic location, we are also ideally positioned for both business and leisure guests, allowing us to provide a dynamic and vibrant space that caters to the evolving needs of modern travellers.”

Guests can enjoy dining at the hotel’s Chinese restaurant Yuè, the halal-certified buffet restaurant 21 on Rajah, Re:fuel by Aloft, which offers light meals and drinks and the W XYZ bar in the lobby.

Amenities being provided at the hotel include the 24/7 Re:charge indoor and outdoor gyms and the hotel’s Splash Pool.

It also hosts a wide range of events at its five meeting venues, along with an outdoor event lawn that is suitable for birthday parties and wedding receptions.

It also boasts a lobby with an 85-inch video wall featuring electronic art by artists such as Refik Anadol and Jonathan Monaghan.

Located in the Balestier neighbourhood, the hotel is within a ten-minute drive from Singapore's central business district and is near the cultural enclave of Little India.

It also provides easy access to iconic landmarks such as the Singapore Botanic Garden and Orchard Road.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, its adoption by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed ROI.
