Travel technology company Amadeus has announced the acquisition of Voxel, an electronic invoicing and B2B payment solutions provider for hotels, travel sellers, and more.
This move is expected to bolster Amadeus' vision of delivering a seamless travel payment experience and complement its Outpayce payments business.
The inclusion of Voxel solutions into Amadeus’ current portfolio will provide travel sellers access to a broader range of payment services.
It will also offer a more automated electronic invoice management for hotels, tour operators, travel management companies and hotel aggregators.
Amadeus Travel president Decius Valmorbida said: “The acquisition of Voxel brings a complementary portfolio of solutions to enrich Amadeus’ end-to-end offering, leveraging smart technology in order to benefit the wider travel eco-system and industry.
“Payments are present at every stage of the travel experience. To make the experience of travel better, it’s crucial we ensure smooth, integrated and even invisible payments.”
The acquisition is anticipated to enhance Amadeus’ ability to cater to corporate clients by further automating the business travel experience.
From reservations and payments to expense management, the integration of Voxel's technology is intended to offer a smoother end-to-end process.
Voxel CEO Àngel Garrido said: “The combination of our technology, teams, strong cultural fit, and our connections will no doubt bring us one step closer to smoother travel payments.”
Voxel's Bavel Platform orchestrates an end-to-end electronic payment process and includes Bavel Pay, Bavel Billing, and Bavel Procurement.
It is currently used by more than 50,000 hotels, over 1,000 tour operators and travel companies, across 100 countries.
The Bavel Platform handles more than 100 million transactions annually.
During this month, Amadeus announced the expansion of its services into the leisure travel market with the launch of Amadeus Leisure Connect.
