India's Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government has selected US-based company Anjali Investment for the construction of a new resort in Ayodhya.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the resort was signed between Anjali Investment and UP’s tourism department on 27 January.
It follows the recent consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Ayodhya Ram Temple on 22 January, which has significantly increased tourist visits in the area.
According to a media release from the UP Chief Minister's office, the MoU outlines plans for a 100-room resort.
This development is a strategic move to bolster tourism in Ayodhya, providing superior facilities to visitors and promoting regional growth.
At the forefront of this project is Anjali Investment, led by entrepreneur Ramesh Nangurnoori from Hyderabad, India.
With a background in real estate and business in the US, Nangurnoori said that the company’s latest strategic decision to invest in Ayodhya's hospitality sector comes after the consecration of the Ram temple.
The temple is expected to give a substantial push to local tourism, Nangurnoori noted.
Anjali Investment has already selected a suitable location for the resort, with the associated construction work expected to commence soon.
UP Tourism director Prakhar Mishra also underscored the positive impact of the resort's construction, stating that “it would improve the overall experience for tourists and devotees visiting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya”.
In addition, the anticipated rise in tourist numbers is also predicted to create new job opportunities for the residents of Ayodhya.
“Echoing these sentiments, Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasised the rapid development of Uttar Pradesh in the tourism sector. The state currently leads in domestic tourism, and continuous efforts are underway to attract more foreign tourists,” the media release added.
Last October, Saryu Ratna Hotel & Resort signed a franchise deal with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to open a new hotel in Ayodhya, UP.
