CapitaLand Investment-owned lodging business unit Ascott has introduced a programme to engage guests in on-site sustainability activities across Somerset properties worldwide.
The Somerset Sustainability Passport Programme is expected to support Ascott's goals under Ascott CARES, marking its first anniversary this month.
Ascott CARES is a corporate sustainability framework.
The programme aims to foster family bonding during stays and provides guests the option to participate in initiatives such as eco-friendly activities, wellness programmes, and community initiatives.
It also has tasks for guests to complete.
Ascott brand and marketing managing director Tan Bee Leng said: “Sustainability is a global challenge that requires collective effort. The Somerset Sustainability Passport Programme is a global initiative by Ascott to foster a sense of community and shared purpose through our Somerset brand.
“By actively involving our guests in these efforts, we are not just telling them what the Somerset brand stands for; we are amplifying our impact to create a lasting emotional connection.”
Aligned with Somerset's brand ethos of ‘where harmony is second nature’, these initiatives focus on three pillars, being in harmony with the environment, oneself, and with those around them.
Furthermore, the programme aims to educate children on eco-friendly and community tasks for their daily lives.
It provides families Sustainability Passport booklet for tasks such as sorting recyclables, conserving energy, gardening, and reading green messages from the property’s digital compendium.
Additionally, the GoGreen initiative provides families with Ascott Star Rewards points for future stays.
Somerset properties are designed with a focus on sustainability and incorporate eco-friendly features to decrease carbon emissions.
Ascott currently has about 30 certified properties in its portfolio, doubling the count from the previous year.
The lodging business unit has more than 800 hotels and serviced residences worldwide.
