Danish start-up BeCause has joined forces with d2o to introduce a corporate social responsibility directive (CSRD) solution for the hotel industry.
d2o provides forecasting and resource management technology for the hospitality sector.
This collaboration was unveiled at the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance Spring Summit held on 21 and 22 May in Nice, France.
The partnership represents a step in establishing a sustainable ecosystem that connects the hotel sector with technology providers.
It integrates BeCause's Sustainability Hub with d2o's PMI GoGreen suite of prediction, targeting, tracking, and allocation tools to make an auditable CSRD reporting solution.
The solution is expected to exceed compliance by enhancing hotel efficiency and profitability.
BeCause's AI-powered hub is designed to centralise and automate the flow of sustainability data among stakeholders, including booking platforms and industry certifications.
The platform's ability to upcycle data to multiple frameworks streamlines the process of obtaining green certifications and ensures regulatory compliance.
d2o's PMI GoGreen suite helps hospitality groups set and adjust monthly environmental targets for each property, taking into account individual characteristics and seasonal changes.
It is noted that both individual hotels and chains can track progress using forward-looking indicators.
The integration of PMI GoGreen tools into the BeCause platform, through an API, allows efficient data sharing and mapping, thereby enhancing data reusability for CSRD reporting.
This streamlines the compliance process for hotels while ensuring accuracy and auditability at the activity level.
The centralisation of sustainability data within the BeCause platform allows hotels to gain insights into which properties are achieving their sustainability targets.
The solution's machine learning algorithms and predictive analytics assist in setting and meeting targets, optimising resource usage in line with daily demand fluctuations.
The system integration service ensures that the BeCause Sustainability Hub and PMI GoGreen tools work seamlessly with various hotel systems.
This interoperability aims to enhance operational efficiency, empowers frontline managers, and enables hotels to demonstrate their sustainability initiatives to guests while fulfilling CSRD compliance requirements.
BeCause CEO and co-founder Frederik Steensgaard said: “We believe in the power of ecosystems, and by partnering with d2o, we've built a particularly effective one.
“Not just in terms of helping hotels reach CSRD compliance, but by using the combined capabilities of our solutions to address everyday issues that impact their margins and organisational effectiveness.”
The combined PMI GoGreen and BeCause solution aims to deliver at least a 100% return on investment for hotels that implement it.
The solution is scheduled for a phased roll-out throughout mid-2024, with a formal launch planned for September.
Last month, BeCause partnered with the World Travel & Tourism Council to integrate the Hotel Sustainability Basics framework into its platform.
