Beyond Green, a collection of sustainable hotels, resorts, and lodges, has partnered with global organisation 1% for the Planet, according to a press release posted on HospitalityNet.
Under the alliance, Beyond Green will donate 1% of its annual sales to support non-profit organisations addressing environmental issues.
Launched in 2021 by parent company Preferred Travel Group, Beyond Green aims to incorporate sustainability within the global travel and tourism industry.
Meanwhile, 1% for the Planet is designed to facilitate smart environmental giving and combat greenwashing.
The organisation partners with vetted non-profits to address environmental challenges, including climate justice, urban infrastructure, gender equality, and more.
With more than 6,500 partners across 111 countries, it allows its members to support causes that align with their values across four impact areas.
These areas consist of rights to nature, resilient communities, conservation and restoration, and just economies.
The alliance with 1% for the Planet now allows guests to amplify the positive impact of their bookings with Beyond Green.
The collective efforts of 1% for the Planet's members are claimed to have resulted in significant financial support for environmental partners worldwide.
To date, more than $530m has been certified in contributions.
Preferred Travel Group CEO Lindsey Ueberroth said: “Following our launch, we have sought to connect Beyond Green with like-minded brands for considered partnerships that align with our overall purpose.
“By working with 1% for the Planet, we are excited to further fulfil our commitment to supporting environmental causes.”
1% for the Planet CEO Kate Williams said: “Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and only 5% of that comes from businesses.
“The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members is doing vital work to increase giving and support on-the-ground action. We're excited to welcome Beyond Green to our global movement.”
Preferred Travel Group currently has more than 1,100 hotels, resorts, and residences spanning 80 countries worldwide.
