In a strategic move to solidify its standing in the upscale US hospitality segment, Choice Hotels International has continued its nationwide expansion with the recent opening of two Cambria Hotels.

Now with a portfolio of more than 60 across the country, the company is making waves in the upscale sector.

New destinations

Recent additions to the Cambria Hotels US portfolio include properties in Austin, Texas, and Lake Placid, New York, contributing to the brand's 14% growth in 2023.

The 212-room Cambria Hotel Austin Downtown, situated in the heart of the city, and the 185-room Lakeside Resort in Lake Placid, showcase the brand's commitment to providing unique, upscale experiences.

Breaking ground on two properties in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Choice Hotels anticipates the opening of the Cambria Hotel Fort Worth and the Cambria Hotel Northlake in Summer 2025, adding to the brand's growing line-up of properties in the Lone Star State.

Mark Shalala emphasises the brand's success, with Cambria Hotels recognised as the top upscale brand in the JD Power 2023 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study.

In a statement, Shalala highlighted the growth of the Cambria brand: "Cambria owners and developers are providing a superior product for guests, and this continued expansion for the brand should signal Choice accelerating into a new level of competition within the upscale segment. “

These upscale properties are seamlessly connected through the award-winning Choice Privileges loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points at over 7,000 hotels worldwide.

Key leadership appointments aim to propel growth

Choice Hotels has re-inforced its commitment to upscale hospitality with key leadership appointments.

Indy Adenaw takes on the role of senior vice-president and general manager, upscale brands, to drive growth across the eight-brand upscale portfolio.

Supported by Alexandra Coleman, vice-president, upscale brand management, and Patrick Curran, director of food and beverage, the team aims to enhance the brands for consumers and developers alike.

Cryptocurrency - The world’s most polarizing technology theme

The globalization and digitization of travel and tourism are both driving the demand for easy-to-use and cheap international transaction processes and payment systems. Tourists are beginning to discover that cryptocurrencies offer such opportunities—by simplifying cross-border transactions and overcoming the associated foreign currency exchange costs. At present, cryptocurrencies are the most advanced application of public blockchains that promise benefits such as a universal means of payment and minimal fees through the removal of intermediaries.
