Cleartrip launches new feature for hotel bookings

The Cancel for No Reason feature will allow users to cancel their hotel bookings up until check-in time and get complete refunds instantly.

India-based online travel platform Cleartrip has launched a new feature called Cancel for No Reason, allowing users to cancel their hotel bookings up until check-in time and receive immediate and complete refunds, as reported by ETHospitality.com.

In 2021, Cleartrip was acquired by Indian e-commerce major Flipkart and following the purchase, Cleartrip has introduced products and solutions in the travel e-commerce industry.

The company has formed an alliance with an insurance partner, which will offer consumers the flexible option to book accommodations in advance without having to worry about paying cancellation fees.

This partnership also aims to bring value to its hotel partners by ensuring they do not incur losses due to last-minute cancellations.

Cleartrip's head of hotels and accommodation business Manu Sasidharan said: “We are seeing 2.2x growth in hotel bookings from the day we launched the new product. People have started advance booking.”

Sasidharan added that the new product is expected to "democratise" the cancellation policy for consumers.

Currently, the company is directly connected with 20,000 hotels and plans to reach 35,000 by the middle of next year.

The company boasts more than 300,000 hotels, both domestic and international, via channel partners and aggregators.

Following the transition to its own Extranet, an app that enables hotel partners to manage their bookings, rates, inventory and promotions, the company has launched new products and improved existing ones.

It further plans to expand its existing range of products, add more banking partners and extend the No Cost EMI product's duration in the near future.

Additionally, Flipkart's product, Buy Now, Pay Later, will be extended to Cleartrip customers by the end of 2023.

Sasidharan added that these initiatives aim to foster customer loyalty by focusing on three key principles, namely affordability, flexibility and value.
