More than half a million Condé Nast Traveller readers rated their travel experiences for the 2023 Readers' Choice Awards.

The awards cover hotels, resorts, cruise lines, spas, cities, airlines and airports, trains, luggage, countries and islands.

S Hotel Jamaica has been crowned as the top hotel in the Caribbean and Central America by Condé Nast readers.

The global travel market considers the Caribbean as a premium destination with a proven track record. It is a popular tourist spot among luxury vacationers.

The 120-room adults-only S Hotel in Montego Bay, sister to the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston, aims to craft authentically Jamaican cultural experiences for its guests. This includes the recent unveiling of Club S, an entertainment hub inspired by Jamaica's Passa Passa street parties.

The all-inclusive hotel has expanded its room options, introduced new culinary experiences and integrated sculptures and murals created by Jamaican artists. It also features a pool, sky deck, bars, restaurants, 24-hour café, spa and gym.

S Hotel Jamaica is one of two Jamaican hotels now recognised in this category of the Condé Nast Traveler 2023 Readers' Choice Awards.

S Hotel Jamaica general manager Anne-Marie Goffe commented: “Our commitment to providing an authentically Jamaican experience has been our compass, and this recognition reaffirms our direction."

S Hotels and Resorts recently unveiled plans to open its third resort at CROSSROADS Maldives in November 2023. The company currently operates 38 hotels with a total of 4,552 keys globally.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, uptake of the metaverse by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed return on investment.
