US-based Davidson Hospitality Group has announced the launch of the "Davidson Day of Service," a new companywide initiative aimed at giving back to the local communities at all 83 individual hotels and resorts within the portfolio.

Each participating property has developed an activity with the aim of making a positive impact on its respective community during November 2023.

An example of environmental outreach is Hotel Zephyr, which will be doing gardening work at Mission Dolores Park, one of the oldest and most historic parks in San Francisco.

Eden Roc Miami Beach is partnering with a local organisation to hold an "Animal Supply Drive" benefiting Animal Lovers Rescue, a non-profit organisation that works to home puppies and kittens and provide them with veterinary attention.

The Higgins Hotel and Conference Center in New Orleans is focusing on caring for veterans and will honour more than 40 Congressional Medal of Honor recipients as it serves as the official hotel of the National World War ll Museum during an event for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.

Other initiatives include a blood drive, volunteering at local food banks and providing community resources and gifts.

Davidson Hospitality CEO Thom Geshay commented: "Community service projects are not new to Davidson. However, this is the first time we've done it on a co-ordinated basis to really highlight the terrific impact our teams are having across the country.”

Davidson Hospitality is a partner and operator for hotel brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Kimpton and Nobu.

Cryptocurrency - The world’s most polarizing technology theme

The globalization and digitization of travel and tourism are both driving the demand for easy-to-use and cheap international transaction processes and payment systems. Tourists are beginning to discover that cryptocurrencies offer such opportunities—by simplifying cross-border transactions and overcoming the associated foreign currency exchange costs. At present, cryptocurrencies are the most advanced application of public blockchains that promise benefits such as a universal means of payment and minimal fees through the removal of intermediaries.
