The 4.5-star Dorsett Wanchai Hong Kong has implemented its 'GoGreen Promise' and a series of paperless and plastic-free sustainability initiatives.
This includes a paperless check-in service with a guest service robot and biodegradable wooden key cards to replace traditional plastic versions.
Guests can use refillable glass bottles and shower amenities, encouraging the reduction of unnecessary waste and minimising plastic consumption.
The Dorsett Wanchai also offers a shuttle bus service for city travel, with shopping and business districts drop-offs in Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Central. The service promotes the use of public transportation over private cars or taxis to limit carbon emissions.
The hotel was the Grand Award winner of the Hong Kong Management Association's Sustainability Award 2022 and has been an EarthCheck Silver-certified hotel for five consecutive years. It was also a winner in TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice 2023.
Dorsett Wanchai general manager Anita Chan comments: “More so than ever, businesses are recognising their impact on communities and the globe. Sustainable travel can be a force for good with our unremitting efforts."
The Dorsett Hospitality Group is a subsidiary of Far East Consortium International.
According to GlobalData, driving increased visitor numbers and income from tourism are key areas of focus for Hong Kong’s travel and tourism industry.
