DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly in the UK has concluded an extensive refurbishment of all its 285 bedrooms and corridors, enhancing the guest experience with a contemporary design while emphasising environmental responsibility.

The refurbishment project of the hotel commenced in July 2023, and aimed at modernising the rooms with minimal environmental impact.

The hotel is managed by global hotel management company Valor Hospitality.

The refurbishment successfully diverted nearly 70t of waste from landfill, aligning with the hotel's commitment to sustainability.

In a collaborative effort with Embassy Village, a charity the hotel has supported through various initiatives, DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly donated televisions to the Manchester-based homelessness organisation.

In addition to the charitable contributions, the hotel ensured that 54t of furniture found new life within the hospitality sector through The Hotel Clearance Company.

The existing wardrobes and minibar units were refurbished and reused on-site, while carpets and underlays were recycled and repurposed as pet bedding, further reducing waste.

DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly general manager Andrew Fletcher was quoted by TheBusinessDesk.com as saying: "A great guest experience is imperative to us, and we really believe our guests will love this refresh. We were so pleased to be able to work with one of our charity partners, Embassy Village."

Design company ABDA Design drew inspiration from Manchester's storied industrial past to craft a visually appealing aesthetic for the hotel.

The new design features a colour scheme of blue, yellow, and orange, which is intended to resonate with guests and enhance their stay.

ABDA Design senior designer Rachael Sheldon said: “As the hotel is used by guests staying for both business and leisure, we wanted to ensure the room styling would appeal to all. We created a softness to the rooms, whilst still maintaining a contemporary feel and sumptuous materials.

“The corridor areas also received a new lease of life with a full decoration, which included an eye-catching feature mural that celebrates the hotel’s proximity to the train station.”

Valor Hospitality UK & Europe president Brian McCarthy said: “At Valor, we’re committed to prioritising sustainability, and the DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly refurb project is a shining example of how we can come together to reduce waste, while continuously improving and providing an exceptional experience for our guests.

“Updating hotel décor should have as little impact on the planet as possible, and I’m delighted to see the results of how much furniture we were able to donate or recycle by working closely with our partners.”
