Dubai's emigration department in the UAE has revised its tourist visa application guidelines, now requiring travellers to provide proof of confirmed accommodation and return flight tickets.

This move is aimed at streamlining tourism and enhancing security measures.

According to the revised guidelines, the documents need to be uploaded on the website of the emigration department while applying for a visa, as reported by The Economic Times.

The authority has specified that only travel agencies are authorised to apply for tourist visas while visit visas can be processed by trading companies, families, or individuals.

The same documentation rules apply to both visa categories. Travellers need to provide booking documents using a QR code.

Failure to submit these documents could result in application delays. It is also noted that open-ended or one-way tickets may cause rejection of the visa.

Additional documentation, such as proof of the host's residency, may be required for those intending to stay with friends or family in Dubai.

Moreover, applicants need to demonstrate financial resources, with the requirement set at Dh5,000 for a two-month and Dh3,000 for a three-month visa.

The immediate enforcement of this policy aims to regulate visitor influx, prevent overstaying, manage tourist inflows in peak seasons, and enhance the overall travel experience by encouraging pre-planned itineraries.

While these rules are already in place for citizens of Pakistan and several African nations, there is still a need for clarity on whether expatriates in the UAE need to submit similar documents when applying for visit visas for their families, as reported by The Economic Times.

Indian passport holders have multiple visa options for Dubai, catering to both short-term and extended stays.

These options include a visa-on-arrival, non-extendable visas, and the recently introduced five-year multiple-entry visa, which allows frequent visits.
