Thailand-based Dusit International has broadened its hotel brand portfolio with the launch of two new brands, Devarana – Dusit Retreats and Dusit Collection.

These new brands are expected to enter new markets, expanding the company’s footprint as well as providing immersive guest experiences.

Dusit International’s existing portfolio includes Dusit Suites, Dusit Thani, Dusit Princess, ASAI Hotels, dusitD2 and Elite Havens.

Dusit International COO Gilles Cretallaz said: “Owners immediately gain access to our robust commercial support and seasoned management expertise while maintaining the distinct look and feel of their properties.

“Most importantly, our guests benefit from new opportunities to forge deep bonds with destinations at distinctive properties steeped in history and character.”

Dusit Collection, a soft brand designed for unique and standalone properties, offers a personalised approach to property development, service and guest engagement.

With a focus on the upper upscale and luxury sectors, the brand aims to feature hotels in destinations known for distinctive architecture, tasteful design and memorable locales.

This concept is expected to allow property owners to retain their establishments' individuality while seamlessly integrating into the Dusit family.

It will also help avoid the complexities of rebranding or extensive renovations associated with the core brands of Dusit.

The hotel and property development company is currently seeking opportunities for Dusit Collection properties worldwide and expects to announce its initial signings soon.

The new brand, Devarana – Dusit Retreats, is a revamped version of the company’s former luxury brand. It is designed to offer experiences in the ultra-luxury segment.

It plans to upgrade Dusit’s Devarana Wellness concept and offer tailored healing experiences at exclusive destinations worldwide.

Rooted in Thai wellness traditions and sustainable travel, the brand blends nature, community, ancient healing and regenerative spaces, as well as architecture and design.

It also offers curated activities and personalised wellness programmes for discerning travellers.

Scheduled to open this October, the first property under Devarana – Dusit Retreats is a rebranding of an existing Dusit property in China.

Cretallaz expects the company to sign several Devarana – Dusit Retreats by the end of 2023.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, its adoption by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed ROI.
