Business property adviser Christie & Co is facilitating the sale of Edenhall Country House Hotel, situated in the Eden Valley near Penrith, Cumbria, England, with an asking price of £1.29m ($1.7m) freehold.
The property features 25 en-suite guest bedrooms, a bar, a restaurant, event space, and a conservatory.
It also offers a two-bedroom owners’ apartment and a three-bedroom duplex apartment, which can accommodate up to seven people and is available as self-catering accommodation.
Owners Paula and Wayne Williams have decided to retire after running the hotel for 17 years, since 2008.
Paula said: “When we bought Edenhall, we were new to the hotel business and wanted a successful, thriving business at the heart of the village community. We worked hard to create a business where everyone feels welcome, guests return regularly, locals support us, and in turn, we have a great reputation and a thriving business.
“Having made this our home for the last seventeen years, the time has come for us to retire and step away from the business, but we will be sad to leave. We have been privileged to have met wonderful guests over the years, and we do hope that the new owners will enjoy their time here as much as we have.”
The hotel provides guests access to the North Pennines Area and the adjacent Lake District National Park. It is also a local venue for functions, events, and weddings.
Christie & Co agent Graham Wilkinson said: “I was so impressed when I met Paula and Wayne. This is a great business that meets the needs of so many guests, from leisure visitors to business stays, weddings and functions, and one that is very much part of local life in the area. Businesses that offer a range of income streams, a great location and a strong reputation are always much sought after and as such we anticipate a good level of interest.”
The sale of Edenhall Country House Hotel follows Christie & Co's successful facilitation of the sale of Cartmel Old Grammar Country House in December 2024.
