Lifestyle and leisure hospitality company Ennismore and real estate private equity platform Kasada have signed Hyde Johannesburg in South Africa.
Hyde Johannesburg marks Ennismore’s first hotel in Johannesburg, the first Hyde hotel in Africa, and Kasada's inaugural investment in the city.
The hotel will feature 131 rooms, including 31 suites, and a gym.
A soft renovation is planned to reposition the hotel to embody the bohemian spirit of the Hyde brand.
This will include a new mural and the creation of spaces for art and music collaborations, as well as new art installations throughout the property.
The mixed-use building also includes the Proud Mary restaurant, a lobby lounge, meeting rooms, and 7,400m² of coworking, office, and commercial spaces that are fully leased.
Sitting adjacent to Rosebank Gautrain Station, the new hotel is a 30-minute drive from OR Tambo International Airport.
Ennismore IMEAT deputy head and chief development officer Louis Abi Abboud said: “Hyde Hotels have a sense of mystery and freedom, with that feeling that anything can happen, and we are incredibly excited to bring this unique lifestyle hospitality experience to Johannesburg.
“We are proud to be once again partnering with Kasada to bring an Ennismore brand to Africa for the first time and to open in a new global destination, further expanding the reach of our network.”
Kasada's latest move bolsters its foothold in South Africa, building upon its three investments in Cape Town.
The Hyde brand, with properties in Miami, Dubai, Ibiza, and Bodrum, is expanding, with upcoming openings in London, Perth, and Queenstown.
In June 2024, Ennismore's Delano Hotels brand announced its plans to launch Delano Dubai at Bluewaters in the UAE this October.
