MENA [the Middle East and North Africa]-based online travel marketplace Wego has announced a strategic partnership with the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) GCC [Gulf Co-operation Council].
Wego observed an influx of travel interest from the MENA region to Germany in 2023, with 1.5 million searches registered.
The campaign promotes Germany’s winter season and cultural festivities to tourists from MENA, particularly highlighting Christmas markets and winter sports.
MENA is currently an untapped market for Germany. No countries from the region feature in Germany’s top ten source markets.
Germany's hotel industry is burgeoning for prospective tourists, with Marriott and IHCL announcing hotel openings in the key cities of Munich and Frankfurt.
Wego chief business officer Mamoun Hmedan commented: “The number of searches on our platform signifies a robust interest in exploring Germany. Wego is thrilled to play a part in facilitating these travel aspirations.”
GNTO GCC director of marketing and sales office for Gulf countries Yamina Sofo added: “Throughout the year, Germany remains an appealing destination for MENA tourists, and we strive to offer them the best festive experience through a variety of activities."
Earlier in 2023, Wego collaborated with IHG Hotels & Resorts to provide its users with a wider array of hotel offerings globally.
