Groupon and SiteMinder partner to improve hotel pricing  

The integration is set to position Groupon's marketplace as an efficient and low-friction distribution channel for hoteliers.

Groupon, an e-commerce marketplace, has announced a partnership with SiteMinder, a software platform that enhances the revenue potential of hotels.  

This collaboration will integrate SiteMinder's platform with Groupon's offerings, aiming to optimise pricing and distribution for hoteliers while providing new options for customers. 

The integration is expected to position Groupon's marketplace as an efficient and low-friction distribution channel for hoteliers. 

It is intended to streamline interactions, potentially leading to better deals.  

This partnership is anticipated to benefit both hoteliers and guests. 

It will offer guests access to a wider variety of properties and destinations through a simplified booking experience. 

SiteMinder ecosystem and strategic partnerships vice-president James Bishop said: “At the heart of this collaboration is a shared goal to open more doors for hotels, giving them wider access to a broader range of guests as international travel accelerates. 

“By partnering with Groupon, we are providing our customers the opportunity to feature on a growing platform where more guests are now shopping for stays. This aligns with SiteMinder’s vision to create opportunities for hotels to maximise their revenue and find greater success in an ever-dynamic travel landscape.” 

SiteMinder is claimed to be the first hotel distribution solution to be implemented on a global scale by Groupon.  

This move is part of Groupon's transformation strategy to evolve into a marketplace that offers customers a range of daily experiences and supports local businesses. 

With approximately 17 million active customers, Groupon is focused on improving the local experiences and services market.  

Groupon travel global head Brian Heyel said: “The synergy between Groupon and SiteMinder underscores our commitment to supporting hoteliers. Beyond simplifying pricing and distribution, it extends its reach, providing the flexibility needed in a dynamic market.

Last month, Siteminder launched its platform as a mobile app at the travel and tourism exhibition ITB Berlin in Germany. 

The mobile app represents the first phase of the delivery of SiteMinder’s smart platform, set to launch later this year.
