Global hospitality company Hilton has expanded its portfolio with the opening of the Hilton Boston Park Plaza in the US state of Massachusetts.

Previously known as the Boston Park Plaza, the hotel has rejoined the Hilton Hotels & Resorts portfolio, restoring Hilton's presence in the Back Bay neighbourhood.

This property was originally acquired by Conrad Hilton in the mid-20th century, marking Hilton's foray into Boston and was later named Statler Hilton in 1957.

It is now owned by Parks Hospitality Holdings and is managed by Hilton.

Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand leader Leonard Gooz said: “Nearly 70 years since Hilton first arrived in Boston, we’re thrilled to welcome back visitors to this iconic hotel. As we continue to grow Hilton Hotels & Resorts to more than 600 hotels welcoming guests globally, we are excited to add Hilton Boston Park Plaza to the brand’s portfolio.

“We look forward to honouring the hotel’s legacy and serving as a destination for the next generation of travellers, galas and events for years to come.”

The hotel boasts 1,060 guest rooms, including 55 suites, with each room featuring New England-inspired artwork and stone-topped cabinetry.

The room options range from studio and one-bedroom suites to 1,160ft² Presidential Suites and 1,400ft² Garden Suites with a pantry kitchen and a private terrace offering city views.

Dining options at the hotel include the all-day dining restaurant and bar situated in the lobby, an onsite Starbucks and Strega Italiano with Italian-inspired dishes and a list of cocktails.

Guests at the hotel have access to Boston's first Topgolf Swing Suite, which offers Professional Golfers' Association of America-certified lessons and more.

It also includes a 20,000ft² Lynx Fitness Club that provides amenities such as yoga, boxing and HIIT classes.

It can host social as well as corporate events at its 35 meeting rooms and three ballrooms spanning 70,000ft².

These event venues include the 13,215ft² Grand Ballroom which features balconies suitable for weddings, as well as Avenue 34 and The Square.

Situated at 50 Park Plaza at Arlington Street, the property is four miles from Boston Logan Airport and one street away from Boston Common.

It provides guests access to nearby locations such as Boston Public Garden, Arlington T Station, as well as Theatre District.

This latest addition joins Hilton's portfolio of over 60 hotels, spanning ten different brands in the market. It also has ten additional hotels in Boston currently under development.

Currently, Hilton has approximately 7,400 properties across 124 countries and territories.

Cryptocurrency - The world’s most polarizing technology theme

The globalization and digitization of travel and tourism are both driving the demand for easy-to-use and cheap international transaction processes and payment systems. Tourists are beginning to discover that cryptocurrencies offer such opportunities—by simplifying cross-border transactions and overcoming the associated foreign currency exchange costs. At present, cryptocurrencies are the most advanced application of public blockchains that promise benefits such as a universal means of payment and minimal fees through the removal of intermediaries.
