Global hospitality company Hilton has made its foray into the Himalayan country of Nepal, by opening a hotel in Kathmandu.

The new flagship property, which is now the tallest hotel in the city, offers guests a blend of hyper-personalised experiences and breathtaking mountain views.

Located 4km from Tribhuvan International Airport, Hilton Kathmandu boasts a strategic position close to key attractions such as Thamel and Durbar Marg, and targets business and leisure visitors.

The Shanker Group owns and developed the property.

The hotel's 172 rooms, including presidential suites, all offer panoramic views of the Langtang Valley's mountain ranges.

Hilton Kathmandu’s design pays homage to Nepal's cultural heritage, with its glass façade inspired by prayer flags and interiors featuring the traditional Nepali Dhaka fabric.

Hilton Asia Pacific brand management senior vice president Alexandra Jaritz said: "Our first hotel in Nepal is a landmark for the city’s discerning guests. Hilton Kathmandu is a stunning addition to our portfolio, meticulously crafted to immerse guests in this unique destination and allow them to experience Nepal’s rich history and culture against the dramatic backdrop of the Langtang mountains.”

The hotel also focuses on sustainability practices with the installation of EV charging stations, a fleet of electric vehicles, and a seismic-resilient structure.

Dining at Hilton Kathmandu features five distinctive venues that fuse international and local gastronomy.

Hilton senior vice president and South Asia head Zubin Saxena said: "We are delighted to announce the opening of Hilton Kathmandu, marking our strategic entry into Nepal. With Hilton Kathmandu, we are committed to delivering unparalleled experiences that merge the essence of Nepali hospitality with Hilton’s world-class standards.”

Shanker Group managing director Shahil Agarwal said: “It is a privilege to join forces with Hilton to introduce this stunning addition to the skyline of Kathmandu. We've meticulously created a hotel that encapsulates the spirit of this vibrant destination and celebrates Nepalese heritage while embodying the brand’s signature hospitality.”

In May, IHG Hotels & Resorts signed a management agreement with Mansarovar Amusement Park & Resort for the development of Crowne Plaza Resort Nepalgunj in Nepal.
