Hilton has taken a significant step in expanding its presence in Baja California, Mexico, with the signing of two franchise agreements for the conversion of Perla La Paz and Tropicana Los Cabos into Tapestry Collection by Hilton Hotels.
The 90-room Perla La Paz, located in La Paz, and the 70-room Tropicana Los Cabos in San Jose del Cabo, are set to open in early 2024.
Continuing growth strategy
As part of Hilton's broader organic growth strategy, these additions re-affirm the company's commitment to providing diverse offerings for travellers.
Mario Carbone, managing director of development for Mexico and Central America at Hilton, emphasised the strategic importance of the Pacific Coast of Mexico in this expansion.
“The Pacific Coast of Mexico represents an integral role in Hilton’s larger organic growth strategy across this diverse destination as we look to bolster our presence with world-class brands and add to our portfolio of award-winning hotels in Baja California,” said Carbone in a company statement.
These new additions join Hilton's portfolio in Baja California, alongside resorts such as the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal and Hilton Los Cabos.
Hilton currently operates more than 210 hotels with approximately 115 in design and construction across the Caribbean and Latin America.
Jenna Hackett, brand leader for Tapestry Collection by Hilton, expressed excitement about these new additions.
“Both Perla La Paz and Tropicana Los Cabos will be great additions to our expanding Tapestry Collection by Hilton portfolio across Mexico and the brand’s global portfolio of over 115 hotels currently welcoming guests around the world with more than 100 under development,” said Hackett.
Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
The Perla La Paz, built in 1940, recently underwent a $10m renovation. The hotel, set to join Hilton as Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, preserves its Art Deco history while modernising the city around it.
Located in La Paz's golden zone, the hotel has a pastel pink façade, outdoor terraces and renovated rooms.
Tropicana Los Cabos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Situated 500 feet from Plaza Mijares in San Jose del Cabo, Tropicana Los Cabos captures the Mexican colonial style.
Scheduled to debut in early 2024, it features 70 rooms with authentic Mexican artwork and accents.
